Sotto bares Lapid’s plan to join 2019 Senate race

Actor-turned-politician Lito Lapid is considering moves to return to the Senate again, Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III disclosed on Thursday.

“Lito is considering, seriously considering running again,” Sotto said in an ambush interview after the weekly forum at the Senate.

Sotto said they were discussing Lapid’s possible return even before the result of the latest Pulse Asia survey where the latter ranked eighth to 15th.

“Even before that (Pulse Asia survey) napag-uusapan na talaga yun dahil lumalabas naman talaga sya survey noon pa e [we have discussed about it because his name had been cropping up in surveys even before],” the Majority Leader said.

Sotto said he was in talks with his political group, Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), to consider Lapid’s inclusion in its own list of senatorial bets for 2019. /jpv
