Roque to barangay officials: BBL passage in your hands

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told members of the Liga ng mga Barangay-Mindanao Chapter that they are crucial to the enactment of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

“Malinaw po na kaya tayo nandito ay para masigurado na pagdating ng plebisito, overwhelming na ‘oo’ ang iboboto ng ating mga kababayans (It is clear why we are here. We need to ensure that we will vote an overwhelming ‘yes’ in the plebiscite),” Roque told participants of the BBL forum held Tuesday at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Roque added that President Rodrigo Duterte, along with Congress, supports the passage of the BBL, a proposed law that seeks to end the armed conflict in Mindanao.

If enacted, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region would replace the current Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Roque said he believes voters will agree with President that the BBL is the most likely solution to the Mindanao problem.

The forum aimed to inform barangay officials of the history of the region as well as the atrocities committed against the Moro people over the course of the country’s history. /ee
