SC orders distribution of Hacienda Luisita–source

MANILA, Philippines–The Supreme Court has ordered the immediate distribution of Hacienda Luisita to over 6,000 registered farmworkers-beneficiaries of the vast sugar plantation owned by the family of President Benigno Aquino.

A senior court official said at least eight magistrates voted to grant the motion for reconsideration of the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council and the farmers’ group Ambala during the high tribunal’s regular en banc session on Tuesday.

    I don’t think a lot of people understand what socialism is and what it actually entails. Wealth is not actually distributed to everyone, it’s just that the government has control over it. If your government is corrupt, then malas mo. Plus socialism will require us to surrender some of our so called “rights”. Knowing the Pinoys, they don’t want that because in this country, the argument always start with “KARAPATAN KO” blah blah. It’s like being under martial law, only the ideology and the term “socialism” seems more acceptable.
