2 men arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Marikina

Authorities nabbed two men for illegal possession of firearms and a bladed weapon, and violation of the Omnibus Election Code in Marikina City, Saturday night.

Elements of Marikina police station 9 identified the two suspects as Danilo Bello and Gerardo Meren.

The two were apprehended at West Drive cor Narra St., Brgy. Marikina Heights, Marikina City when suspects were flagged down while on board a motorcycle at 11:30 p.m.

Instead of stopping, the suspects sped off which resulted in a brief chase.

The two also failed to present official receipts or certificate of registration of their motorcycle, as well as their driver’s license.

During a body check, one unit of cal. 9mm Llama Minimax9 pistol, with serial # 07-04-02293-96, loaded with one magazine and five live ammunitions, was confiscated from Bello, while one five-inch kitchen knife was recovered from Meren.

Suspects were temporarily detained at Marikina central police station while waiting for inquest proceedings.  /je
