73-year-old Japanese nabbed in Zambo for wife’s murder

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities here on Wednesday arrested a 73-year old Japanese national over last year’s murder of his Filipino wife, the police said Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Neri Ignacio, Zamboanga City police director said Kiyoshi Hana Niida, who is from Hokkaido was arrested at his temporary residence in Callejon Drive in Barangay Guiwan here.

Ignacio said Kiyoshi was identified as the one who ordered the killing of his Filipino wife, Majen Curambao.

“This Japanese masterminded the murder of his wife. He was with three others who are still at large,” Ignacio said.

According to Ignacio, Kiyoshi was the subject of an arrest warrant for parricide, docketed under Criminal Case No. 37979 at the sala of Judge Shaldilun Bangsaja of the Regional Trial Court Branch 22 here.

No bail had been recommended for Kiyoshi, who was now being detained at the Divisoria Police Station.

Ignacio said Kiyoshi’s accomplices are now being tracked down.    /muf
