Ex-PDI reporter seeks miracle for sick dad

Oscar Brizuela

A tumor that started as a pea-size lump on top of Oscar Brizuela’s brow has grown rapidly in less than a month.

“Doctors say it has to be removed very soon because the scans show that it could be piercing his skull and may eventually push out his left eye,” said his daughter, Maricar Brizuela, a former Inquirer Metro reporter.

Despite being 72 years old, her father has been healthy his whole life, Maricar added.

A farmer in Tabaco, Albay province, he rarely ate meat, preferring the vegetables and fruits he grew in a farm.

“Because of his age, he is no longer qualified for most health cards, nor does he have medical insurance. I was initially hesitant to ask other people for help but I love my Papa so much that I would do everything to keep him well,” Maricar told the Inquirer.

“But more than financial help, we ask all of you to pray for his healing. My father has been a servant of the Church since I can remember. His spirituality and faith have never wavered even during the most trying times. He is always strong and holds on to his strong faith in the Lord whenever there are problems,” she said.

“We want to see him go to church again, plant bonsai trees, play with our pets, eat his favorite ‘chao fan’ and take care of Mama. We are hopeful. Miracles happen. We can move mountains,” Maricar added.

Doctors at Bicol Medical Center in Naga City have said that the operation to remove the tumor may cost P500,000.

Donors may contact Maricar at 0916-4932063. Help can be sent through her LandBank account (Maricar B. Brizuela, account #3587-0332-66); through Paypal ([email protected]) or go to the GoGetFunding link: https://gogetfunding.com/move-mountains-for-papa/
