Woman injured in pillbox explosion in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY — A 35-year old woman was injured in a blast tin Barangay Rosary Heights, a residential area here, at around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Lt. Col. Gerry Besana, the chief of the 6thInfantry Division’s Civil Military Operations, identified the woman as Letlet Paraan, a sidewalk vendor.

He said investigation showed that the explosion was caused by a pillbox.

Besana said prior to the explosion, witnesses saw two persons on a motorcycle, who tossed an object on the roof of the house.

A few second later, an explosion took place, and shrapnel, fashioned out of cut tie wire, hit Paraan who was nearby.

Paraan was rushed to a hospital. /atm
