LAOAG CITY—A police officer survived an alleged suicide attempt at her home in Dumalneg town in Ilocos Norte province on Friday afternoon (April 6), according to her family.

The 25-year-old woman with the rank of Police Officer 1 was found unconscious in a chair with a drawstring around her neck at 3 p.m. in Poblacion Village. She joined the Philippine National Police in 2016.

Her mother said the police officer was off-duty and had been suffering from personal problems. Earlier on the same afternoon, the police woman appeared happy during her 4-year-old son’s preschool graduation. She was supposed to marry a fellow police officer next month.
