Cop moved to Basilan from Manila shot dead

A rogue Manila police officer was shot dead in Isabela City on Wednesday months after he was transferred to Basilan province as part of his punishment.

Senior Insp. Aristoedes Nas Miranda, of Quiapo, Manila, was attacked past 5 a.m. on Rizal Avenue in Isabela City, the Basilan capital, according to Supt. Fergen Torred, chief of the Western Mindanao police’s intelligence division.

No suspect had been identified and the motive for the killing was unknown, Torred said. —Julie Alipala
