NCRPO records zero Holy Week-related incidents so far

This year’s Holy Week has so far been a peaceful one in Metro Manila as the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday recorded zero incidents in the hundreds of assistance centers established in the capital for the holiday break.
In its 6 a.m. update, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said all police districts have not recorded any significant incidents under the “Ligtas Summer Vacation (Sumvac) 2018.”
The NCRPO has established a total of 364 police assistance desks (PAD) and centers in Metro Manila, mostly near churches, bus terminals, and malls as Filipino Catholics observe the Holy Week.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) established the most number of PADs with 112, followed by the Manila Police District (MPD), 83; Eastern Police District (EPD), 66; Southern Police District, 61; and Northern Police District at 42.
More than 12,000 police and military personnel have been deployed in Metro Manila to increase security for the Holy Week, NCRPO chief Dir. Oscar Albyalde said.
PNP chief Dir. Gen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said on Monday that the police force nationwide was on full alert to curb activities of criminals taking advantage of the long holiday break as well as communist rebels celebrating the founding anniversary of the New People’s Army. /je
