Over 30,000 cops deployed to secure, maintain order – PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed more than 30,000 personnel to ensure a peaceful and safe Holy Week and summer break for travelers.

PNP Spokesperson Chief Supt. John Bulalacao said on Wednesday that 32,637 police personnel were sent out to man 4,546 police assistance centers in “strategic locations” such as major roads and travel routes, as well as sea, air, and land transportation terminals nationwide.

The PNP has been placed on full alert to ascertain the availability of personnel and other resources to respond to contingencies.

In Metro Manila, a total of 11,871 police officers have been deployed for this Lenten Season.

As of Tuesday night, the PNP Directorate for Operations said it has recorded a total of five drowning incidents, one vehicular accident, and one sea mishap in Region 13.

Earlier, the PNP said they have not monitored any terror threat for the Lenten Season but said they will remain vigilant to prevent such incident.   /kga
