A southbound train of the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) offloaded its passengers on Sunday night due to a system failure.

In an advisory, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said 600 passengers were offloaded at Ortigas station at 6:49 p.m. due to ATP (Signaling) Error.

The service disruption was caused by “worn out ATP sub-components” particularly the ATP sensor, Narvaez said.

ATP stands for “automatic train protection.”

Affected passengers then rode on a different train which arrived six minutes after.

This is the sixth offloading incident that the MRT-3 management has recorded for the month of March. /je
