4 people killed, 2 wounded in separate shootings in Quezon City
Four people were killed in separate shootings overnight in Quezon City that also left two people wounded, including a 3-year-old boy.
On Friday night two men and a woman were shot dead inside a house in Barangay Commonwealth, according to a report submitted to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
Over four hours later, an alleged trespasser was slain in a supposed encounter with police officers inside a hospital compound in Project 4.
At around 8:30 p.m., two still unidentified men broke into the giyse of Rex del Monte, 30, on Steve Street, where he lives with his wife and two young children.
The assailants shot Del Monte dead, as well as two others identified, as Efren Gadong, 33, and Rhiela May Agraviador, 25.
A stray bullet also hit Del Monte’s 3-year-old son, who taken to the Quezon City General Hospital.
Supt. Rossel Cejas, QCPD Batasan Station commander, said the three worked as rent collectors at Commonwealth Market, which police eyed as the possible motive behind the attack.
He noted that Gadong and Agraviador were only visiting Del Monte and had just arrived from the Ilocos region.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, at around 12:50 a.m., an alleged shootout took place inside the regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center, after a suspect reportedly grabbed the gun of a police escort.
Authorities said they nabbed Ronald Gallo, 31, on Rigor Street in Barangay Masagana, after receiving a call from a resident that the suspect had trespassed inside their house.
Gallo reportedly told police that he hid inside the house because several men on motorbikes were pursuing him.
Police found his feet bloodied and brought him to the hospital.
At the emergency room, however, he allegedly refused treatment and instead wrestled with a police escort for his firearm.
After a brief chase and a firefight with the responding cops, Gallo was reportedly cornered inside the DOH Mimaropa office and was killed by the police officers.
Gallo was hit in the chest and in the back.
Gallo reportedly wounded two security guards, identified as Rolito Samocino and Arnel Nitafan, during the chase.
Eleazar said initial investigation showed that police did not find any evidence that supported Gallo’s claim that he was being chased by motorcycle-riding men. /atm
