MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan—The pregnant woman, who accused three Bulacan policemen of raping her in front of her two-year-old child during a recent buy-bust operation, will no longer pursue the charges against them.

In a text message sent to Sr. Insp. Susan Cullamco in a press briefing here on Friday, the woman said she will no longer pursue the case and just leave everything to the Lord.

(Set those policemen free, I know that they also have conscience. Even though they will not be jailed, the Lord has pity, the Lord will be the one to take care of it.)

But Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa said the Bulacan provincial Internal Affairs Service (IAS) would continue its investigation on the alleged rape.
“Kahit na umayaw na itong complainant, IAS will still pursue the case. Patuloy po [Even the complainant backed out, IAS will still pursue the case. This will proceed],” Dela Rosa said.

The woman, who was seven months pregnant, accused three policemen—PO2 Jefferson Landrito, PO1 Marlo delos Santos, and PO1 Jeremy Aquino—of raping her in front of her two-year old child during a buy-bust operation on March 6.

The policemen, however, cried foul on the woman’s allegations and demanded that she issue a public apology to clear their names.

“Papayag po kami [na hindi na kami magkaso] humingi lang siya ng public apology kasi nasaktan ang mga pamilya namin,” Landrito said.

Dela Rosa said that he would nail the policemen to the cross if the allegations are proven true.

“‘Wag na kayo maghintay ng Semana Santa, ako mismo magpapako sa inyo sa krus,” he said.

(Do not wait for the Holy Week, I myself will nail you to the cross.)

But if not, Dela Rosa said that he would be the first to defend the policemen and assist them in filing their complaints. /jpv
