SAN PEDRO CITY – A village chief in Padre Garcia town, Batangas province, was wounded after motorcycle-riding gunmen shot his vehicle on Tuesday.

Andres Linatoc, captain of Barangay Poblacion, had just left the municipal hall of Padre Garcia and was onboard his sports utility vehicle when shot around 11 a.m. in Barangay Poblacion, according to a police report.

The gunmen escaped. Police were still investigating the case and have yet to determine the motive of the attack.

The Batangas police office on Wednesday said Linatoc remained in the hospital.
