Calm in Philippines after Arroyo’s arrest

MANILA, Philippines – It is business as usual in the country and there is no army unrest despite the dramatic arrest of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and a looming legal battle, Philippine officials said on Sunday.

Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said there was no sign of unrest within the 120,000-strong military after police placed Arroyo under hospital arrest Friday on charges of elections fraud.

The ex-president once had strong ties to the army.

Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, who oversees the national police, said he saw no need to raise the alert level anywhere in the country.

Budget Secretary Florencio Abad said the “people power” revolt that ousted two Philippine leaders in 1986 and 2001was clearly on the side of the current leader, Benigno Aquino III.

The arrest of GMA was done peacefully and according to our laws due to the President’s team, the courage of Delima and the 99 per cent support of the people.

The very few supporters of GMA like the otso judges and politicians are the ones that created the drama, confusion, fears of constitution crisis, etc.

As of this writing, my brother informed me that outside St. Luke’s, there is not a single person protesting for the release of Gloria.  Buti pa yun makagloria bloggers here punta na dun.

The above news report is just a probervial calm before the storm and I am praying that the very strong storm will not come. The storm that I am referring to is the possible granting of TRO by SC in favor of GMA by deciding that the probable cause issued by DOJ-COMELEC panel against gma is railroaded and will deem warrant of arrest of GMA void and illegal. A motion is to be filed on Monday and we know how those hoodlums in robes operate. They operate like gangsters who don’t give a hoot about what will happen to our country, now and in in the future. If that happens, there will be a catastrophic mayhem that could rival armageedon.

It’s the weekend.  More legal wranglings will be expected with Arroyo’s camp’s supplemental petition before the SC, again with an urgent prayer for the issuance of another TRO to nullify the DOJ-COMELEC investigations, and consequently the case filed before the Pasay RTC.  Hopefully, the SC will be more circumspect this time and allow judicial process.  If indeed there is no truth to the allegations of election sabotage, then face it like a man and pass the test of trial.

Who needs to go on the street to rally behind GMA and Pnoy? The Filipino people are already suffering and they could no longer waste their time to shout on the street for the two leaders, whose have not done anything but to make sure that they are being talk about by the media. I love to buy newsprint then but I have to stop for a while, who would want to buy a recycled story about the telenovela of Pnoy and GMA. I also want to read kung ano ang ginagawa nang gobyerno sa kahirapan nang mamamayan. The fight between Gloria and Pnoy should not suck the precious time of the Filipinos. We need to boast the food on the table and improved the lives of the masses. At the end of the day and GMA is knockout, baka gumising na tayo na sa kangkungan na tayo pupulutin.

majority of the Filipinos don’t really care about GMA…her term as president was over.
PNoy destroyed the foundations started by GMA for the economic growth of Pinas!– RORO, seaports, airports, telecom (broadband), tourism, holiday economics (booms d countryside tourism).

Of course, ayaw ng China ang strong republic Pinas. and PNoy is the puppet of China.
Kaya mga controlado nila mga protesta/rallies, NPA/MILF.

Maging alerto mga kababayan…longterm planning yang sa China…and they’re already inside the country.

kala mo kung sinong Santa ang sumulat nito. Norma do you know that GMA
left important legacies to this country? (1) Economic (GDP was high when
she left) (2) Political stability (3) e-voting and electoral reforms –
which benefitted ABNO. So now tell me in the span of 1 and a half
years, what did this government so far has done to this country? wasting
resources? tsimis and witchhunting? It cant even collect proper
evidence to file a case. In desperation they filed a case
electoral-sabotage against GMA just to stop her from seeking medical
treatment abroad….huh? What happened to the massacred farmers in the
Aquino property? Who was charged? The Aquinos and Cojuancos should be
charged. Give justice to the slain farmers….what sauce for the goose
    is sauce for the gander.

Correct ka dyan…..I am not pro GMA, I am pro- compassion and humanity. ABNOY has been toying his vendetta against GMA because of what she did not to the Phils, but what she did to Cory and hacienda luisita…so please spare me, as this government cannot fool many of us….

At the end of the day, we still are poor, hungry, jobless. You will ask yourself, what has this drama provided us? Opportunities or just plain temporary relief (because of diversional tactics of this administration) many forget that we will not gain better opportunities to make our life better.

    KARMA

“”"Paguia said the proclamation of Arroyo as Estradas successor was
void from the beginning and that the justices of the Supreme Court have
prejudged their decision in the Estrada vs. Arroyo case, which declared
the legitimacy of the present government.

The records are clear, the justices of the Supreme Court have
violated the rule (on constitutional succession). They have prejudged
the decision in the Estrada vs. Arroyo case, Paguia said.

The lawyer noted that the ruling was tainted with patent
partiality when the justices attended EDSA 2, an obviously partisan
political activity after accepting the written invitation by then Vice
President Arroyo to swear her in on ground of permanent disability
despite the absence of a written declaration by Estrada or majority of
    members of his Cabinet.

The Supreme Court justices failed to avoid suspicion of
partisanship, which renders their decision a mockery of justice and due
process, Paguia said, adding that the SC justices violated Rule 5.10 of
the Code of Judicial Conduct “”"”

Your reasoning is elementary, good for you to debate with your level because here in this forum, we expect adult reasoning. I hope you are not pro-GMA because this will add to your being ignoramus. First and foremost, Pnoy program of government is to get rid  and bring these these corrupt officials to the court of law. that is his slogan in his cmapaign. How can he get rid of those vermins if he will not jail Arroyo. The arrest of Arroyo is sending a signal to them which is good.

in any type of war/engagement the primary objective is to win the battle;easier said than done is to cut the head of the opposing leader and  everything falls the fastest as opposed to the time consuming and mostly unsuccessful attempts on hacking first the minions allowing peripheral damage yet providing sufficient time and legroom to the main players to escape with the least accountabilities and jailtime;pnoy ‘s administration opted for the harder option;just hoping and praying that they will succeed where his late mother miserably failed to accomplish in many instances.
