6 Abu Sayyaf bandits slain in Basilan clash

ZAMBOANGA CITY-Soldiers killed at least six suspected Abu Sayyaf members during a clash with the bandit group in Maluso, Basilan on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent Nickson Muksan, Basilan  police director, said soldiers from the 68th Infantry Battalion were conducting operation in Sitio Kitchen in Barangay Muslim when they clashed with an undetermined number of bandits around 8:45 a.m.

It was not clear if there were government casualties as the fighting was continuing, according to Muksan.
