Illegal gambling operator jailed in Lucena

LUCENA CITY–Police arrested an illegal gambling operator during a raid here on Wednesday.

Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police chief, said anti-illegal gambling operatives acting on an information from concerned citizens, swopped on the house of Merlo Paragas Visperas, 56, and found one video karera machine being used in illegal gambling in Barangay Ibabang Dupay.

During his arrest, Visperas also yielded one unlicensed caliber .38 revolver with three bullets and one plastic sachet containing a small amount of crystal meth or “shabu” in one of his pockets.

Police said the illegal gambling operation of Visperas has long been the subject of complaints in the village.

Visperas, who is facing charges of illegal gambling and possession of illegal firearm and drugs, was detained at the city police jail.
