Tricycle passenger killed in Lucena road mishap

LUCENA CITY – A tricycle passenger was killed in a freak accident along the Maharlika Highway here in Lucena City before midnight Sunday, police said.

Report from Lucena police said victim Jeric Riofloredo, 20, was aboard a tricycle being driven by Reymon Plata when the side wheel of the vehicle hit a mound on the highway near the Lucena-Pagbilao boundary around 11:30 p.m.

The impact threw Riofloredo off unto the opposite lane where he was consequently run over by an incoming AB Bus Liner. The victim died while undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital.

The bus driver, Ruperto Argamosa, voluntarily surrendered to Lucena police station. /je
