CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, ISABELA – Five plantations of fully grown marijuana worth P10 million were destroyed by the police, soldiers and members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at Mt. Chumanchil in Tinglayan town in Kalinga province on Feb. 11 and 12, the military said on Tuesday (Feb. 13).

Army Captain Jefferson Somera, 5th Infantry Division spokesman, said the marijuana plants worth P6.1-million were grown at 5,200-square-meter upland farms and were burned on Sunday (Feb. 11).

He said the team discovered two more marijuana farms spanning 1,100-square-meters, and located 11 kilometers away from the town center of Tinglayan. The marijuana grown there were worth P3.9-million and were destroyed on Monday (Feb. 12).

The team also seized 40 kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth P5 million and two kilos of marijuana powder worth P500,000, Somera said. No one was reported arrested.
