LP: Turncoats to PDP-Laban not Liberal partymates

The supposed Liberal Party (LP) officials in Agusan del Sur who moved to rival and ruling political party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) were not LP members.

This was the statement of LP on Sunday, a day after at least 3,366 alleged LP members reportedly took oaths as members of PDP-Laban.

According to LP, the said provincial officials are members of the National Unity Party, which used to be part of the coalition formed during the administration of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“Partido Liberal is now rebuilding itself to become a genuine people’s party. We invite those who want to join the party to sign up online via partidoliberal.ph,” it said. /cbb
