Resigned CHEd exec may file complaint due to harassment, threats

Malacañang on Friday said Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) executive director Karol Marc Yee may file a complaint with the police over the “unceasing harassment and of relentless threats” against him.
“Let him file a complaint [with the police] if he wants,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
Yee resigned on Wednesday after he said he has been enduring “unceasing harassment and of relentless threats.”
Roque confirmed that Yee has resigned but President Rodrigo Duterte has yet to decide on his resignation.
“He has also resigned. He has resigned and of course the President will decide,” he said.
Duterte appointed Yee in June 2017 after CHEd executive director Julito Vitriolo was ordered dismissed by the Ombudsman for failing to investigate the “diploma mill” allegations against Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Manila.
In an August 17, 2017, decision, the 12th Division of the CA dismissed the charges of gross neglect of duty, grave misconduct, incompetence and inefficiency against Vitriolo.
The appellate court has ordered Vitriolo reinstated, citing his offense did not justify his dismissal but former CHEd Chair Patricia Licuanan refused to enforce the decision.
“We note that Vitriolo has a CA order to reinstate him which former chairperson Licuanan refused to enforce. But that’s it. We just note na may ganoong order that Licuanan refused to enforce,” Roque said. /jpv
