DOJ sacks 3 employees for involvement in fraudulent visa processing at BI
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has sacked three of its employees after they were found to be involved in the anomalous processing of visas at the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
The dismissed employees were identified by the DOJ as Abvic Ryan Maghirang, Cyruz Morata and Shigred Erigbuagas.
In addition, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Friday ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct a probe and file charges against the three.
The three employees will also be placed under the Immigration’s Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO), Aguirre added.
“I ordered the termination of several DOJ employees who have confessed to being involved in anomalies involving the purported processing of visas at the Bureau of Immigration,” Aguirre said in a statement.
“These persons will also be the subject of an immigration lookout bulletin order, which I will issue immediately,” the DOJ chief said.
Persons placed under the ILBO are barred from leaving the country until Aguirre issues them an allow departure order, DOJ Usec. Erickson Balmes earlier explained.
Aguirre added that he also expects an “in-depth and thorough investigation” on the part of the NBI.
“Once again, I call on everyone serving the DOJ, if you are corrupt, get out! This is not the place for you and we will get you. We will not tolerate any act of corruption especially in our own backyard,” Aguirre said. /muf
