NAAWAN, Misamis Oriental – Police arrested on Saturday a barangay councilor, her husband, and their son for alleged drug pushing.

Senior Insp. Jaime Bastatas, team leader of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office, identified those arrested as Annie Seriño, a councilor of Barangay Linangkayan here; her husband, Zaldy, and their son, identified only as Bimbo.

Bastatas said they served a search warrant against the Seriños after an agent managed to buy a sachet of crystal meth, or shabu, from the couple’s son.

During the search, police officers recovered five sachets of suspected shabu inside a matchbox, a grenade for an M203 launcher, several round of M16 ammunition, and cash – including the marked money used in the drug transaction.

FEATURED STORIES

Bastatas said they had been monitoring the family’s drug business for quite some time and decided to secure a warrant so their house could be searched.

The village official denied the police claim, saying all the illegal drugs that authorities had presented were planted.

Seriño said she also worked as a canvasser for a construction company, where her husband was safety officer.

According to her, her son is a criminology student.

The Seriños were detained and complaints for violation of the anti-drugs and the firearms laws were being readied against them.
