PCG: 3 missing fishermen off Negros rescued by passing boat
Three fishermen who were reported missing between the waters off Negros Oriental and Siquijor since Monday, January 15, have finally been rescued, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The PCG on Friday said the fishermen were rescued by a passing motor banca in waters off Barangay Culipapa, Hinoba-An, Negros Occidental.
“While navigating along the vicinity waters off Apo Island, subject motor banca encountered engine trouble and subsequently drifted towards the vicinity waters off Sulu Sea,” the PCG said in a statement.
“A passing motor banca sighted the distressed vessel and rendered necessary assistance,” it said.

The fishermen, identified as Roselier Doring, Danny Toastomban and John Lloyd Toastomban, went missing after a fishing venture between the waters off Barangay Canday-Ong, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental and Barangay Pasihagon, Siquijor.
The PCG said the three fishermen boarded an unregistered motor banca, painted green and white, at their home port at Barangay Pasihagon, Siquijor last Monday.
“The three fishermen were all in good physical condition and were turned-over to their families upon arrival at the Siquijor Port,” the PCG said.
In addition, the PCG said the fishermen’s motor banca was also towed and brought to the shoreline of Barangay Culipapa.
