Councilor Al-ag takes oath as Davao City vice mayor
DAVAO CITY — Third district Councilor Bernard Al-ag on Wednesday formally assumed his post as the city vice mayor.
Al-ag took his oath of office before Mayor Sara Duterte around 4 p.m.
The oath-taking, held at Sara’s office, was witnessed by several officials, including those from the city local government operations office.
Al-ag’s ascension to the vice mayor’s post was brought about by the resignation of Presidential son Paolo Duterte on Dec. 25.
President Duterte on Friday last week accepted Paolo’s resignation.
Al-ag had earlier said his assumption of Paolo’s position would trigger a few changes in the chairmanship of various committees at the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
“I will be vacating the position of floor leader and as chairman of the committee on rules so there will be few changes,” he said.
Al-ag will be serving Paolo’s remaining term. /je
