Attend procession sober, Albayalde tells devotees

The Philippine National Police (PNP) gave its last-minute reminders to devotees planning to attend Traslacion 2018 to observe the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene on January. 9.

“Paalala ‘wag pumunta dun ng lasing. Maraming nangyayari dahil nag-aaway dahil sa kalasingan nung iba,” National Capital Region Police chief Director Oscar Albayalde said in a press briefing on Friday.

He also advised parents not to bring their children.

“Huwag na magdala ng batang malilit. Baka mahiwalay lang sila sa atin,” he said.

Millions are expected to attend the largest gathering of Catholics in the Philippines next week.

Albayalde also warned devotees not to bring their gadgets and just take enough money with them because of pickpockets.

“Refrain from bringing your cellphone. ‘Wag na magdala ng perang malaking halaga or magsuot ng alahas. Alam naman natin na ang pumupunta dyan, di lahat devotees. May sisingit na mandurukot dyan. Yan ang paalala natin sa kababayan,” he said.                        /kga
