Malacañang welcomed on Saturday the “record-high” Social Weather Station (SWS) survey results that almost all Filipinos would enter 2018 with hope.

“We are pleased with the latest Social Weather Stations survey showing 96 percent of Filipinos are entering the New Year with hope. This figure is considered a record-high,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

“The prospects for the future thus, look bright. We therefore ask our citizens to help the administration in laying down the foundation of a prosperous and peaceful nation,” he added.

Roque said there are many reasons to be hopeful for the coming year. He cited the positive economic outlook for the country after debt watcher Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings adjusted its economic growth forecast for the Philippines this year.

He also noted that the implementation of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Act—together with higher investment in infrastructure—is expected to prop up the economy in 2018.

The liberation of Marawi City will likewise, spur economic activities in Mindanao, the spokesperson said. /jpv
