CITY OF CALAPAN—The cadaver of a 61-year-old Swedish national was found sitting on the ground and leaning on a hotel’s cement wall in Coron town in Palawan province before dawn Thursday.

Reports reaching Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) police said the victim, identified as Stefan Pengchon, 61, was found by Reynaldo Nobelo, employee of Coron Visitors Hotel, at Lower Bancuang, Barangay (village) 5 at around 3 a.m.

Initial report said that while conducting inspection and monitoring of the establishment area, Nobelo noticed the victim sitting on the ground leaning on the cement wall beside the hotel, but did not disturb him thinking that there was nothing strange about the situation.

But after a few minutes, Nobelo returned and pointed his flashlight at the victim. It was then that Novell saw blood coming from the victim’s mouth.

Olga Holar, manager of the hotel, said Pengchon, was not their guest. /jpv
