Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) arrested on Thursday three young men responsible for the stabbing and mugging of a working student in Balut, Tondo on Wednesday.

Elements from Raxabago Police Station 1 in Tondo nabbed Danilo Chicano Doctora, 18; Francis Sablay, 19; and Ricky Piedragorda, 19, in a follow up operation.

Doctora admitted to the crime and tagged Sablay as his accomplice and Piedragorda as the lookout in robbing the 22-year-old victim, Mico Absalon. Piedragorda, however, denied his involvement.

In a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in Barangay 126 in Balut, Tondo, the suspects were seen following the victim while walking along Simeon de Jesus St. around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Absalon sustained four stab wounds in the belly, waist, and chest. He is currently recovering at the Tondo Medical Center.

The victim’s family were furious over the incident, especially that they personally know the three suspects in their neighborhood.

According to the family, Absalon willingly gave his cellphone and shirt but the three suspects still stabbed him repeatedly.

The suspects are facing charges of robbery with physical injury, but the police are considering if they could elevate the case to frustrated homicide. /jpv
