Man wanted for raping wife killed in shootout which left cop wounded

A man who was being served with an arrest warrant on rape charges was killed in Valenzuela City while a member of the arresting team from the Caloocan police was wounded on Tuesday.

Security guard Crisenciano Landero Jr., 53, was shot dead in his house in Barangay Wawang Pulo, Valenzuela City, when he allegedly resisted arrest, according to PO2 Regor Germedia of the city police.

PO1 Christian Felipe, a member of the Caloocan police, suffered a gunshot wound in the right arm after Landero fired at the arresting team, Germedia said.

Landero was ordered arrested in January 2017 by Judge Raymundo Vallega of the Caloocan Regional Trial Court Branch 130 for allegedly raping his first wife.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a police team led by SPO3 Pepito Ramos and barangay watchmen went to Landero’s house on Salambao Street to serve the warrant.

But Landero, a security guard for the Light Railway Manila Corp., fired upon the arresting team with his .38-caliber revolver, hitting Felipe.
