SAN PEDRO CITY — Three people were killed while two others were hurt when a car veered off the road and slammed into a fence in Dasmariñas City in Cavite province early Sunday.

The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. along Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay San Agustin, according to police chief Supt. Fernando Ortega.

The police said a Toyota Corolla was negotiating a sharp curve when it hit a concrete fence before crashing into an electric post.

Investigator Police Officer 2 Christian Duaso said the driver, Juan Paulo Devilla, and passengers Janden Rysel Mercado and John Dave Ramirez died on the spot. Two more passengers Noriel Candelaria and Kevin Devilla were hurt and brought to a hospital.

Duaso said they were still determining why the car went off the road. /cbb
