2 NPA rebels killed in Sarangani clash

Two suspected members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in an encounter with the military in Sarangani, Mindanao on Friday morning.

The firefight between soldiers from the Army’s 73rd Infantry Battalion and about 15 communist rebels transpired at sitio Balataan in Brgy. Pag-asa past 6 a.m., said Col. Roberto Ancan, commander of the 102nd Brigade.

Five firearms were also recovered from the clash site.

Meanwhile, no casualties were reported from the government side.
