Groups assemble for Sereno in UP

Several groups gathered Thursday morning at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City to show support for beleaguered Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, who currently faces an impeachment complaint at the House of Representatives.

Sereno was present during a Mass sponsored by her supporters at the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice.

Groups who sponsored the Mass included Every Woman, Prayer Battalion for Truth and Justice, Youth Resist, The Coordinating Group, Alyansa ng Samahang Pantao and Manindigan Na.

Also in attendance were ex-government officials under the Aquino administration, namely: former Secretaries Dinky Soliman (Department of Social Welfare and Development), Ging Deles (Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process), and Ramon Jimenez (Department of Tourism).

Sereno is also expected to attend a forum in the afternoon led by Youth For Chief Justice also in UP Diliman.           /kga
