National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Dante Gierran cautioned Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa from making unverified statements that could destroy the integrity of other government agency.

Gierran was referring to the statements made by Dela Rosa about the alleged involvement of NBI agents in the abduction of a Korean national last Nov. 24.

Gierran said “the leadership of the NBI including all its Agents adhere to high standards of ethics with stringent policies and procedures in the conduct of operations.”

This is not the first time that the police dragged the NBI into controversies. Last year, the police also mentioned that NBI officials and agents were also involved in the abduction and killing of South Korean national Jee Ick Joo. The NBI agents mentioned were suspended but later cleared of all allegations.
