Magnitude 5.1 quake hits near Davao Occidental

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Davao Occidental on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The tectonic quake was recorded at 3:23 p.m. at 36 kilometers northeast of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental. It has a 112 km depth of focus, according to a Phivolcs bulletin.

Intensities II and I was recorded in General Santos City and Alabel, Sarangani, respectively.

Phivolcs said no aftershocks and damage should be expected. /atm
