Did You Know: In 1824, quake hits Manila, followed by typhoon

On Oct. 24, 1824, the city of Manila was hit by a powerful earthquake, followed by a strong typhoon six days later.

The temporary barracks of garrisons in use, along with several churches, buildings, ships and many houses were destroyed by the two calamities. —Marielle Medina
