Dead cop found beneath bridge in Mt. Province

BAGUIO CITY – The remains of a police officer was found beneath a bridge in Mt. Province over the weekend, and investigators are trying to determine if he fell accidentally.

The body of Senior Police Office 4 Joseph Anganayon Aspilan, 49, had a left arm fracture and head injuries when it was discovered at 4:30 a.m. last October 7 under the Chico Jumbo Bridge in the capital town, Bontoc, the Cordillera police said.

Aspilan attended an October 5 meeting at the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, and had visited his family in Bontoc. The policeman was last seen at the bridge at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, where he waited for a ride to Natonin town where he was assigned.     /kga
