BAGUIO CITY – A truck driver was killed on Sunday in Ifugao province when huge boulders pushed his truck off a road and down a 300-meter deep ravine, according to the Cordillera police.

Marcos Inaldo Arron, a Nueva Vizcaya resident, parked the truck owned by the Jann Norris Construction company, while a backhoe cleared an eroded portion of the road at Eheb village in Tinoc town.

But the debris that was blocking the road suddenly collapsed, shoving both the truck and the backhoe off the road at 10:30 a.m.

But it took them until 1 p.m. to extract Arron. He was declared dead on arrival when the truck driver was brought to the Tinoc District Hospital.

Arron’s remains were brought by his employer to his home in Bagabag town in Nueva Vizcaya. Ifugao police said the truck was a total wreck, while the backhoe suffered significant damage.
