/ 03:47 PM September 27, 2017

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Wednesday denied offering coverage of the Witness Protection Program (WPP) to Aegis Juris fraternity member John Paul Solano.

“We have no offer to him,” Aguirre said in a text message.

Reports earlier said that Solano’s camp has rejected an offer that he be placed under the DOJ’s WPP.

Solano was the one who took University of Santo Tomas (UST) law student Horacio “Atio” Castillo III to the Chinese General Hospital after sustaining serious injuries that led to law freshman’s death following the alleged initiation rites of the fraternity.

But Aguirre reiterated that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is open to any witness who wants to apply.

He said those wanting to become a witness should submit an application form and execute an affidavit which will be subjected to formal evaluation. /jpv
