4 wounded in twin Maguindanao blast attacks
DAVAO CITY – A soldier and three others were wounded in twin blast attacks in Maguindanao on Wednesday morning, a military report said.
Captain Arvin Encinas, public affairs chief of the 6th Infantry Division, said that the first explosion occurred in a roadside going to the direction of the military’s Division Training School in Barangay (village) Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat on early dawn.
The improvised explosive device (IED) was reportedly placed in a garbage drop off point along the barangay road.
A soldier driving an M35 military truck to dispose garbage was hit by shrapnel in his back, Encinas said.
Soldiers, police personnel and village officials immediately responded to the blast site to secure the area and investigate the incident. However, a second IED was detonated, hurting a policeman and the village chair and a barangay councilman of Semba, Encinas said.
The wounded were immediately brought to the hospital for proper medical treatment.
Authorities are still investigating both incidents to identify the perpetrators and motive behind the attacks.
