Ex-soldier shot dead at birthday gathering in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY — A retired Army soldier was shot dead on Sunday night by a drinking buddy at Lal-lo town in Cagayan province, police said.

Dalmacio Asuncion, 55, was allegedly killed by James Dorado, 44, during a birthday gathering, said PO2 Vemar Paliwanan, Lal-lo police investigator.

Dorado had allegedly been offended by something Asuncion said. He left the party, proceeded to his house and returned with a cal. 38 handgun.

Dorado killed the former soldier and fled. /je
