Army sergeant shot dead by another soldier in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Quezon– An Army sergeant was shot dead by another soldier after a heated argument during a drinking session in Catanauan town in a military base in Quezon province Friday night, police said Saturday.

Report from Quezon police said the suspect, Corporal Arturo Calub and the victim Sergeant Ciemor Dave Daoang, 35, were having a drinking spree at the headquarters of the Army’s 514th Engineering Combat Battalion in Barangay (village) 9 around 8:45 p.m.

A heated argument over a still unknown reason ensued between the two which ended with Calub shooting Daoang several times with his M16 rifle, police said. Daoang died instantly due to bullet wounds on the head and different parts of the body.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Catanauan police jail.
