‘Wow’ weekend: Free entry to Intramuros spots
Government-run museums and tourist spots in Intramuros, Manila, will be open to the public free of charge this weekend in line with National Tourism Week, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said on Tuesday.
Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo and Intramuros Administration (IA) chief Guiller Asido said the “open house” on Sept. 23 and 24 will cover Fort Santiago, Casa Manila and Baluarte de San Diego.
“We are doing this to make you say ‘Wow!’ again,” Teo said, referring to the previous DOT slogan “Wow Philippines,” which was adopted during the term of then secretary and now senator Richard Gordon.
Teo also said the DOT and IA were planning to revive next year the popular “Best of Regions” fairs started during Gordon’s tenure as secretary. —Jerome Aning
