Typhoon ‘Lannie’ enters PAR

Typhoon Talim (international name) entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday afternoon and was given the local name “Lannie,” the state weather agency said.

Lannie was last located 1,390 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the c enter and gusts of up to 145 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

It is forecast to move west northwest at 28 kph.

Talim is expected to head toward Basco-Taiwan. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday.

Unlike Maring, Pagasa said Lannie has no direct effect to the country yet./je
