/ 05:00 AM September 09, 2017

An 83-year-old businessman shot his 50-year-old son dead in front of the latter’s Quezon City home on Friday, reportedly after a heated argument over money.

Police said John Sy was killed by his father, Antonio, as he was getting into his vehicle on Dampol Street, Damar Village, around 7:15 a.m.

Investigation by the Quezon City Police District showed that the suspect arrived at his son’s house early that morning to confront him about financial matters.

Both father and son lived in the same subdivision.

As John boarded his Mitsubishi Pajero, Antonio pulled his .45-caliber pistol and shot his son twice in the chest, police said. The victim was later declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Security and barangay personnel apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit in Camp Karingal.

Investigation showed that Antonio went to the John’s house two days prior, also armed with a gun.

The victim’s widow told police that father and son had previous arguments over large sums of money that Antonio had been asking from John.
