Sandiganbayan awaits PNP action on ‘shabu’ case

The Sandiganbayan is still awaiting the Philippine National Police’s action on its request to investigate an incident caught on surveillance camera that has been described as a “possible illicit activity.”

Inquiries about whether the PNP has sent a report to the Sandiganbyan has been answered in the negative.

Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo M. Cabotaje-Tang has yet to respond to requests for updates on the matter.

Tang on Aug. 24 submitted a copy of the closed-circuit television footage, which, court sources have told reporters, appeared to show two Quezon City Police District officers repacking what looked like “shabu” (crystal meth) in their patrol car, with the body No. QC-57, which was parked inside the Sandiganbayan compound.

Letter to PNP

In her Aug. 24 letter to the PNP, Tang called attention to the footage taken from the evening of Aug. 22 to the early hours of Aug. 23.

The officers in the patrol car have been identified, but the PNP has refused to disclose their identities pending the investigation.
