Southwest monsoon to continue to affect PH despite ‘Isang’s’ exit

Despite the exit of severe tropical storm Hato (Isang)  from the Philippine area of responsibility, the southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat” continued to affect the country on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the Ilocos Region and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan would experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and possible occasionally heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning due to thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for isolated light to occasionally heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning, Pagasa added.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest would prevail over Luzon and Western Visayas and coming from the south over the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, the coastal waters throughout the archipelago would be moderate to rough, Pagasa said. ASU
