2 more cement plants to rise in Pangasinan town
SISON, PANGASINAN — Businessman Ramon Ang, president of Northern Cement Corp. (NCC), is infusing P35 billion for two more cement plants here to help this third class municipality become a first class town.
“We will build two new cement plants [worth $600 million], which will have no smoke, no smell and no noise,” Ang said on Friday when he turned over two ambulances to Sison Mayor Danilo Uy. The ambulances were donated by NCC and San Miguel Foundation Inc.
NCC has been operating a cement plant at Barangay Labayug here in the last 50 years.

Ang also led the rites for the construction of a roof for the town’s auditorium and took part in a tree planting activity.
“Because local government officials and the people here are friendly, we are also building a feed mill here worth $1 million,” said Ang, who is also chief executive officer of San Miguel Corp.
As a third class town, this town has an average annual income ranging from P35 million to P45 million. Based on a Department of Finance order in 2008, a first class town should have an annual average income of P55 million.
Donations
Ang said he was donating two school buildings in two remote villages here. He also gave P25 million as seed money for interest-free loans for the town’s government employees, policemen, village officials, teachers and members of accredited nongovernment organizations.
He said he had been visiting the NCC plant since 1982 but had never visited the Sison town hall, which was built in 1961. He said he would help the town build a new hall.
According to Ang, he planned to build a sports center in the town where professional basketball and volleyball games could be held. “With a sports center here, more people will come. Then we can build a [local government-run] college beside it,” he said. —Gabriel Cardinoza
