Manhunt on for detainee who escaped Mindoro jail

CITY OF CALAPAN – Police have launched a manhunt for one of two detainees who escaped a police holding cell in Sablayan town in Occidental Mindoro province.

According to a police report, Apolinario Bermudo Alfaro Jr., 48, of Barangay Sto. Niño and Joshua Consolacion Greño, 21, of Barangay Poblacion, in Sablayan, escaped at 8:47 p.m. Saturday. They destroyed the lock of a cell at the Sablayan police station in Barangay Buenavista.

At 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, Alfaro was rearrested and is now under the custody of Sablayan police. Greño remains at large.
